PERFORMANCE
Ford F-150

Trucks are versatile. They can be daily drivers, work horses, adventure companions, or off-road aficionados. They're also customizable, especially in the power department. You’ll find the capability you crave in the F-150 or the Colorado, but which offers more performance options to match anybody’s needs?

A Lot of Horsepower in the Stable

The Ford is available with seven engines, while the Chevy has two available engines. This fact alone sets the F-150 up as the top dog because of its configurability. How do their standard and highest engine configurations compare, though?

The F-150 comes standard with a 3.3L V6 engine that churns out 290 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque. At the end of its powertrain lineup, you’ll find the High-Output Supercharged 5.2L V8 engine, which roars out 700 horsepower and 640 lb-ft of torque! Can the Colorado fill those big shoes?

Coming standard on the Chevy is a 2.7L turbo engine that produces 237 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Its available 2.7L turbo high-output engine generates 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. This is a valiant effort by Chevy; however, it’s no match for the Built Ford Tough F-150.

Undeniable Muscle

The 2023 Ford F-150 doesn’t mess around when it comes to towing capacity. The F-150 can tow up to 14,000 pounds of trailer weight. No project or weekend adventure is too big for this model. Hitch the company excavator, hard-side camper, or a couple of off-road quads to the back with ease.

The Chevy Colorado, on the other hand, offers limited towing capability due to its weaker power output and smaller composition. The best this model can do is provide a 7,700-pound maximum towing capacity when properly configured, which is just over half of what the F-150 is capable of.

INTERIOR
Ford F-150

The cabin of your next truck matters. It needs to provide space, comfort, and flexibility so it can accommodate you. The F-150 and the Colorado deliver in these regards, making them excellent choices for work carpools, on-the-go offices, or family road trips.

Wide Open Space

Sometimes, one extra seat can mean the difference between taking two vehicles to the lake or one do-it-all vehicle like the 2023 Ford F-150. This model seats up to six passengers with the available SuperCrew cab, which offers a whopping 43.6 inches of legroom for second-row passengers.

Compare this to the Colorado’s Crew Cab, its largest cab option. You will only have five total seats inside the cabin, and rear passengers could feel more cramped with just 34.7 inches of legroom.

A Truck that Spoils You

The Ford F-150 comes in clutch with additional cabin space and it goes above and beyond with extra comfort features, such as:

  • 10-way power driver and passenger seats
  • Massage-capable front seats
  • Heated rear seats

After a long day of work, home improvement, or adventure, you want to slide into a truck that makes the drive home feel relaxing and invigorating. The F-150 can provide that luxury. The Colorado falls short of this dream since it goes without the features mentioned above.

UTILITY
Ford F-150

Trucks have a unique feature that no other vehicle has: a tailgate. Cargo beds can come in different lengths, so you can easily take lumber home for a project, be the coolest truck at the football tailgate, set up a bed at the drive-in theater, or sleep under the stars. Which model’s tailgate will do more for you?

Pack It In

Let’s first discuss your cargo bed options! The Chevy’s single bed option measures 61.7 inches, which is just over 5 feet long. It offers 41.9 cubic feet of cargo space for your weekend gear.

The F-150 is available with three cargo bed styles:

  • 5.5-foot bed holds 52.8 cubic feet of gear
  • 6.5-foot bed holds 62.3 cubic feet of gear
  • 8-foot bed holds 77.4 cubic feet of gear

The Ford pickup gives you more spatial flexibility, generating even more adventure opportunities!

Electrifying Power

Beyond the size of their tailgates, each truck offers unique utility features to make work and play easier! When you venture off the grid or to a remote job site, you’ll still have power with the Ford’s available and class-exclusive Pro Power Onboard. This feature delivers portable power, transforming your truck into a mobile generator!

It comes with three available outputs in the cab and the box:

  • 2.0kW - Can power a sander, hammer drill, TV, or blender.
  • 2.4kW - Can power a reciprocating saw, jigsaw, microwave, or game console.
  • 7.2kW - Can power a welder, G6 air compressor, or laser printer.

The Chevy Colorado has unique tailgate features of its own including built-in tools and storage; however, only the Ford F-150 can jump-start your campsite or job site.
