Everything You Wanted to Know About the 2022 F-150 Lightning

Ford’s First All-Electric Truck

As more drivers are turning to electric vehicles, Ford is releasing the 2022 F-150 Lightning - the first all-electric full-size pickup truck. This exciting new release offers an exciting driving experience with plenty of horsepower and torque. Better yet, the electric pickup comes well-equipped with outstanding safety, tech, and design features. See for yourself when scheduling a test drive at Wood Motor Ford.

Remarkably Capable Electric Specs

The 2022 F-150 Lightning specs are impressive. It is outfitted with two electric motors, giving the vehicle all-wheel drive. The horsepower and torque changed based on the battery. The Standard-Range battery has 426 horsepower, while the Extended-Range option has 563 horsepower and 775 lb-ft of torque.

That impressive torque gives the F-150 Lightning serious towing and payload capacities. Outfitted with the Extended-Range battery, the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning can tow up to 10,000 pounds and handle 2,000 pounds of payload. With the Standard-Range battery, the maximum it can tow is 7,700 pounds. The smaller battery can handle 1,800 pounds of payload.

The electric pickup truck has a driving range of 230 to 300 miles, depending on the battery. The charging time is similar to other all-electric vehicles. The fastest way to a 65% charge is with a DC fast charger in about 45 minutes. Drivers can use a 110- or 240-volt outlet.

Tech Beyond the Truck

Ford is touting the F-150 Lightning’s ability to power a home in the event of a power outage. According to the automaker, a fully-charged F-150 Lightning can act as a backup generator for up to three days. It also comes with various kW levels of the Pro Power OnBoard for drivers who need electricity for tools or computers.

Along with these exciting tech features, the pickup truck will come with a 12.0-inch infotainment screen in the base models and a 15.5-inch screen in the Lariat and Platinum trim levels.

The truck will have many popular Ford CoPilot 2.0 safety features that Ford includes on gas-powered F-150 models. The most exciting new available driver-assistive feature is the high-tech BlueCruise. This feature uses a driver-facing camera and radar technologies to allow hands-free driving on Blue Zones that cover over 100,000 miles of roads in North America.

Styling From Useful to Luxurious

Ford will outfit the interior with finishes that resemble those in the gas-powered F-150 trims. From the utilitarian finishes on the Pro and XLT trims to the luxurious finishes on the Lariat and Platinum trims, the F-150 Lightning comes with what drivers want. At the high end, the Platinum models come with leather seats, a power moonroof, and a Bang & Olufsen sound system.
