2020 Ford Ranger: Trusted, Time-Proven Toughness

Building on its well-deserved reputation for go-anywhere capability and unstoppable performance, the latest Ford Ranger certainly doesn’t disappoint. The midsize truck brings its A-game in three different trims: the leaner and lighter Ranger XL, the heftier XLT and the top-level 2020 Ford Ranger Lariat. Depending on the model, you’ll also have SuperCrew® (crew cab) and SuperCab (extended cab) 4x2 and 4x4 body style options.

Each offers the turbocharged, 4-cylinder 2.3L EcoBoost® engine with auto start stop technology, an electronic 10-speed transmission with tow/haul mode and SelectShift® automatic transmission. And after adding Iconic Silver and Race Red to its color palette, Ford gives you nine eye-catching exterior tones, including previously available Saber, Lightning Blue, Absolute Black, Lucid Red, Magnetic, White Platinum and Oxford White.

Serious pickup truck fans understand that while the specs are a great starting point, the real fun begins with the test-drive—and Wood Motor Ford is the ideal place to check out all the excitement in the new 2020 Ford Ranger. Stop in at our dealership or schedule your test-drive today.

When the Going Gets Tough, Switch Driving Modes

Available for all three Ford Ranger trim levels is the Terrain Management System that turns driving in less-than-optimal conditions into an art form. With the push of a button, you can precisely optimize the Ranger’s performance for the specific ground you’re covering at the moment. Headed into town for supplies? Use the Normal mode. Going anywhere else off the beaten path? A flip of the switch puts you in Grass/Gravel/Snow, Mud/Ruts, or Sand mode, depending on your adventure preference. With every change, the Ranger is designed to adjust its engine responsiveness, transmission gearing and vehicle control systems to best suit whatever is under its 16- to 18-inch steel or alloy wheels. And an ample 8.4 inches of ground clearance in the 4x2 models or 8.9 inches in the four-wheel-drive trucks lets you take on even the toughest surfaces without worrying about tearing up the undercarriage. However, should you encounter unexpected obstacles when off-roading or trail-seeking, available armored steel bash plates and steel underbody frame-mounted skid plates provide additional—and formidable—protection to the Ranger’s underside.

Taking Control when Needed

Because the 2020 Ford Ranger is all about giving you the best possible truck experience, it also offers the ingenious Trail Control feature. Simply put, Trail Control is essentially your off-road cruise control, easily handling the throttle and braking while you concentrate on navigating. Just pop it on, set your speed and Trail Control expertly manages the acceleration and braking, directing torque to each individual wheel as needed.

It also doesn’t hurt that the Ranger’s crawl ratio, approach, departure and breakover angles are designed to reach every destination, no matter how difficult—so whether you’re going uphill, downstream or off the side of the road, you’re likely not going anywhere the Ranger wasn’t built to go. Which means you can sit back and enjoy the ride, no matter how brutal it is.

Haul it all While You’re at it

The 2020 Ford Ranger’s well-engineered, fully boxed, hard-core steel frame with six cross members—plus frame-mounted steel bumpers and tow hooks—give it the raw strength and rugged durability it needs to haul or pull all the gear you’ll need without breaking a sweat: a 1,860-lb. payload capacity with an impressive 7,500-lb. tow rating for all trims when equipped with the Trailer Tow Package and trailer brake controller. And when the Ranger is simply cruising through town and country, it gets an EPA-estimated 21 mpg in the city, and 26 mpg on the highway.

Go With the Techno: Co-Pilot360 Technology and More

All trim levels of the 2020 Ford Ranger come complete with Ford Co-Pilot360 technology, a full suite of features that help ensure your safety and maneuverability while driving. Standard are Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, Trailer Sway Control, Rear View Camera, AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control and more; available options for the Ranger XL and standard on the XLT and Lariat include Reverse Sensing System, BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross-Traffic Alert and coverage for both the truck and trailer, Lane-Keeping System, Auto High-Beam Headlamps, and others.

While a 2.3-inch productivity screen is standard on the XL, the Lariat more than doubles that area with two 4.2-inch productivity screens. The standard four-speaker sound system with AM/FM functionality, Bluetooth® Pass-Thru and optional SiriusXM Satellite Radio connectivity can be upgraded to a 10-speaker audio system (on the SuperCrew® trim level and above) or a B&O sound system by Bang & Olufsen (again, on the SuperCrew level or above). In addition, all models come complete with 911 Assist® and FordPass Connect, which allows your 2020 Ford Ranger to act as its own 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot. Higher trim levels offer available voice-activated navigation with SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link.
