An In-Depth Look into the Ford Edge

The Ford Edge took the market by storm when it debuted in 2007, and since then, its popularity, style and list of features has only grown. In 2015, the Edge was redesigned and boasted restyled headlights, LED combination taillights and featured useful amenities like more interior space and a rearview camera. Replacing the previous 3.5L V6 engine was a standard 2.0L EcoBoost® engine, which produces 245 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. That boosted 4-cylinder engine features a twin-scroll turbocharger that provides improved low-end torque, while still returning exceptional fuel economy.

Unlike its predecessor, the new EcoBoost engine has a towing capacity of 3500 pounds and is available in an all-wheel-drive configuration. The mid-range engine, offered in 2015 through 2018 model years, is a 3.5L V6, which produces 280 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque. At the top of the range, a 2.7L EcoBoost V6 boasts 315 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. For 2019, that engine got a boost, generating 335 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque.

The base model, the Edge SE features cloth-trimmed seats, steering wheel controls, and 17-inch painted aluminum-alloy wheels. The SEL features everything highlighted in the SE plus a six-way power driver’s seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, cruise control and 18-inch painted aluminum wheels. In addition, the SEL receives reverse parking sensors and supplemental parking lamps.

Meanwhile, the upscale Ford Edge Limited features everything offered in the SEL plus leather seats, 10-way heated power driver's seat and a 12-speaker premium audio system. Infotainment comes from an eight-inch touchscreen display via the SYNC® interface and options include LED headlamps, a BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System), a built-in navigation system and Adaptive Cruise Control.
