F-150 and F-250 Design Changes 2015 to 2017

The 13th generation of the Ford F-Series features a lineup of trucks that are lighter but not smaller. Designers reduced the F-150's curb weight by 750 pounds by switching body panels to aluminum while the frame is high-strength steel.

The 2015 F-150 was the first pickup to offer adaptive cruise control, which helps the driver maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead and decreases speed automatically when necessary.

The 3.7-liter V6 engine available on the 12th-generation Ford F-Series trucks was replaced by a 3.5-liter V6. Other available engines in the 13th-generation F-Series trucks include a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 and a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6. Ford dropped the 6.2-liter V8 available with 12th-generation trucks but kept the 5.0-liter V8 paired with a six-speed transmission as an option.

F-150 Raptor is the Ultimate Off-Road Pickup

With a high-output 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine producing 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque, this pickup can power over even the most challenging terrain. The 2019 Raptor has FOX Live Valve monotube shocks that automatically adjust to rapidly changing terrain. The Raptor also comes with standard Trail Control and a Terrain Management System.

A new 2020 Ford Raptor starts at $53,205. While they aren't plentiful in the used marketplace, you can get a pre-owned F-150 Raptor with all the most advanced features at a great discount.

This powerhouse of a pickup goes anywhere you want without sacrificing comfort. The suspension is carefully designed to handle the roughest conditions while providing a relaxing ride on long highway trips. The giant all-terrain tires and widened F-150 body take this truck from 0-60 MPH in about five seconds.

2018 Ford F-Series Gets Powertrain Overhaul and More

For the first time since 1996, Ford began producing 2018 F-Series trucks with a common cab. A 3.3-liter V6 engine paired with a six-speed transmission replaced the 3.5-liter V6 engine. The EcoBoost V6 options and 5.0-liter V8 engines received a new 10-speed automatic transmission with the 2018 models.

The F-150 became available with a PowerStroke diesel engine in 2018. Ford also introduced its 250-horsepower 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine in the F-Series. This engine, part of the "Lion" engine lineup, was also available with Jaguar, Land Rover and PSA.

In 2018, the F-Series got safety upgrades including pedestrian detection, pre-collision assist and adaptive cruise control with stop and go technology.

2019 F-150 Offers Class-Leading Features and Capability

Among full-size pickups under 8.500 pounds, the Ford F-150 is a clear leader. There are four trim levels available — XL, XLT, Lariat and King Ranch.

A six-engine lineup lets Ford F-Series drivers match their truck to their needs. The Power Stroke® Turbo Diesel V6 offers class-leading EPA-estimated fuel economy. The V6 and V8 gas engines with twin-independent variable cam timing and twin-turbo gas EcoBoost options offer all the power you need without compromising handling or economy.

This lineup of light-duty full-size pickups is outfitted with a military-grade high-strength aluminum-alloy bed and cab. As a result of this engineering with advanced materials, the 2019 F-150 has the best-in-class payload of up to 13,200 pounds of towing capacity.

2019 F-250 Super Duty is a Workhorse that Makes Driving Easy

Drivers can choose between the 6.7-liter turbo-diesel V8 and the 6.2-liter gasoline V8. Either way, this full-sized truck offers amazing acceleration, a roomy cab and a quiet ride. The diesel engine offers 935 lb-ft of torque and has a maximum tow rating of 34,000 pounds. Competitors in the Super Duty lineup typically offer 15,000 to 18,000 pounds of towing capacity.

Adaptive steering makes slow-speed maneuvering easier ad changes the steering ratio for better comfort on the highway. Driver-assist technology helps with everything from showing objects out of the driver's sight with a 360-degree view around the truck and a 180-degree forward view to staying aware of trailer and truck tire pressure.
